Al Ahly achieved a 1-0 victory over El Masry of El Salloum on Sunday night in the first round of the Egyptian Cup at Al Ahly Stadium.

Ahmed Abdelkader’s goal in the second half was enough for the Red Eagles to secure the victory.

Our opponents had a strong defensive game that blocked most of our chances to double the score.

First Half
The opening minutes of the game were slow, with scoring chances non-existent from both teams.

In the tenth minute, Mostafa Shobeir, our goalkeeper, made a superb save to block a strike from El Masry’s striker.

The clock showed 22 minutes when our first real chance arrived as Karim Fouad hit a strong shot from a free-kick but it was well saved by the goalkeeper.

Six minutes later, Ziad Tarek sent a brilliant pass to Hossam Hassan, who shot the ball over the bar.

The remaining minutes of the first half went on without much happening.

Second Half
We continued our search to break the deadlock and Hossam Hassan missed a clear chance after a beautiful pass from Mohamed Sherif.

We needed 14 minutes to open the score as Ahmed Abdelkader put the ball in the back of the net to put the Red Eagles in front.

Mahmoud Metwally and Salah Mohsen joined the game in the last 20 minutes of the match instead of Ziad Tarek and Mohamed Mahmoud.

Salah sent a beautiful cross to Hossam Hassan but his effort went over the bar.

In the 76th minute, Taher Mohamed Taher and Hussein El Shahat replaced Ahmed Abdelkader and Sherif.

Shobeir pulled off a stunning stop to maintain our lead in the game.

Badr Benoun participated in the last minutes of the game as our Moroccan defender returned to action for the first time after a long absence.

The game ended in a victory for our Eagles, who booked their place in the second round.
